CREATE AWARENESS FOR BLACK BOX WARNINGS
Through art, video, music, literature, poetry and social media, we hope to educate the public about FDA-issued BLACK BOX WARNINGS that warn us about side-effects that are permanently disabling, debilitating, or fatal.
The silhouettes are an exhibit from a lawsuit brought against the makers of Paxil, an SSRI antidepressant. The drug maker's attorneys showed this exhibit as an illustration of how many completed suicides occurred during the clinical trials of the drug. The red "V" indicates that the method of suicide was particularly "violent."
Any harm caused by medication side effects is violent. Most people have no way to get help once they've been hurt. So we've adopted the red "V" as our symbol for "silenced." #V4Silenced
MANDATORY SIDE EFFECT REPORTING
Black Box Warnings come from side- effects, but only after a drug has been introduced into the general population, not from clinical trials. All reporting is currently voluntary. You can report yours or your family member's side-effects to the FDA HERE.
We need mandatory physician reporting on ALL PATIENT SUICIDES involving current or past prescriptions for medications. Correct data will save lives.
